IBPS Process for Arriving at Standard Scores in the Common Written Examination

IBPS: Process for Arriving at Standard Scores in the Common Written Examination, The Standard Scores are obtained by adopting the following procedure:


Corrected Scores
(i) Number of questions answered correctly by a candidate in each objective test is considered for arriving at the Corrected Score after applying penalty for wrong answers.

Equated Scores
(ii) The Corrected Scores so obtained by a candidate are made equivalent to take care of the minor difference in difficulty level, if any, in each of the objective tests held in different sessions to arrive at the Equated Scores*.

Final Standard Score
(iii) The Equated Scores so obtained are standardized** to arrive at Final Standard Score with a minimum ‘0’ and maximum ‘50’ by following Linear Transformation Method.

This procedure is followed for each of the tests.


* Scores obtained by candidates on any test are equated to the base form by considering the distribution of scores of all the forms. 
** The equated scores in each test are scaled to Standardised Scores with Mean 25 and Standard Deviation 5

IBPS Declares Results for Failed Candidate

Snapshot About the Exam

The AILET (All India Law Entrance Test) is conducted by the NLU (National Law University), Delhi for admission into the under graduate level law programme – B.A., LL.B (Honors), which is a five-year integrated programme. The total number of seats for this course is 80 out of which 10 seats are for foreign nationals.


One has to be less than 21 years of age (23 for SC/ST) on the first day of July of the year of admission and should have passed the Higher Secondary School Examination (10+2) system or an equivalent exam with at least 50% marks. Candidates awaiting results of the qualifying examination can also appear for the test on condition that they produce proof of having passed the qualifying examination with the prescribed marks at the time of interview.

How To Prepare

The best way to prepare for law entrance examinations is to practice as many sample papers or old question papers as possible. AILET previous/ old question papers are available with NLU office, Delhi. Students can obtain them by sending a DD of Rs. 550 in favour of ‘Registrar, National Law University, Delhi’ payable at Delhi. Apart from these, there are many books, CDs, online practice tests available which will help you increase your test-taking speed and precision.
